Q: How do I schedule my job and when will it begin?
A: To schedule a job the homeowner must return the signed contract with 1/3 down at contract signing, and balance upon completion of project of the total cost to Bachman’s Roofing (in addition to permits). After appropriate permits have been approved by the township or borough the job will be scheduled. The homeowner will be contacted before any work begins. Check with your estimator about our current timeline for scheduling. PLEASE advise estimator of your needs.
Q: How long will the project take to complete?
A: Each project is different due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We can project a time frame of 1-3 days depending on the job type.
Q: What type of warranties do you offer?
A: Our company offers a 20 year Workmanship Warranty on most contracts.
Q: Are you a member of the National Roofing Association?
A: We are a member of the Berks County Homebuilders Association which is a branch of the National Roofing Association, Certified Selected Shingle Roofer for CertainTeed, Certified GAF/ELK Master Elite Roofing Contractor, Certified Mulehide Roof Installer, Certified Velux Installer & our Director is on the CertainTeed Advisory Council.
Q: What kind of shingles will you use?
A: The style and type is determined by the homeowner. The estimator can provide samples and referral lists to allow the customer to make an informed decision. The standard shingle that Bachman’s Roofing uses is a GAF/ELK 30yr Architectural Shingle (Timberline 30).
Q: What is the warranty from the manufacturer?
A: We use the System Plus Warranty. The homeowner may choose to upgrade to the Golden Pledge Warranty. This decision will effect the type of shingle being used and the cost of work to be performed; this would be considered an upgrade. Other warranties apply for other manufacturers and we can supply you with that information if your choice differs from the standard shingles that we use on most of our jobs (for detailed warranty information visit www.gaf.com).

Q: Do I need to get a permit for my project or does Bachman’s Roofing get the permit?
A: Bachman’s typically will obtain permits needed for all projects, unless the homeowner wishes to contact the township/borough on their own.
Q: Is your company insured?
A: Yes, please ask us for a certificate for your review.
Q: Are there additional fees for debris removal?
A: No, all costs are included in your proposal.
Q: Will my landscaping be damaged from falling debris? What precautions are taken?
A: We take all necessary precautions. We will accept any reasonable requests by the home owner.
Q: Will the old nails be removed from the roof before the new roof is put on?
A: Yes, the old nails will be removed.
Q: How do you remove the debris from the property during the job?
A: We typically use a dump truck.
Q: When will you have the supplies needed to complete the job?
A: We will have all materials when we begin the job. In some cases when we may have to order special materials, there could be a delay.
Q: Where are the materials staged for the job?
A: All materials, unless otherwise deemed necessary will be kept on the property of Bachman’s Roofing and be transported to the job site location.
Q: Is the cost of replacement plywood included in the proposal?
A: No, because it typically cannot be determined if there is damage prior to removing the roofing materials. The cost of wood replacement will be available by your estimator and can be included on your proposal. EXAMPLE: Plywood replacement will be charged out at $70/32 sq feet.
Q: Are ice & water shield & felt paper installed before the shingles?
A: Yes, we follow the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
Q: Do you install drip edge, soffit & ridge vent?
A: Yes, we follow the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
Q: How many nails do you use per shingle?
A: 6 nails per shingle, we follow the manufacturer’s installation guidelines
Q: How much notice is needed to make changes on the work to be performed by the customer?
A: Each occurrence is different. We would handle each situation on an individual basis.
Q: What is your payment schedule?
A: Our payment terms are listed on our contracts: 5% down to schedule, 50% at start date, balance due upon completion.
